New work and exhibition news with the Association of Animal Artists!

A week from now the Association of Animal Artists exhibition will have begun at the lovely Granary Gallery, Weston Park, near Shifnel. I couldn’t make their spring exhibition but am very pleased to be taking part in their latest one.

I will have 3 original oil paintings in the exhibition as well as 2 giclee limited edition prints. Choosing work or even completing work with an exhibition in mind is something that is not easy as any artist will tell you! Even when you have decided upon the works to show there is getting them framed and then transporting them to the venue.

My 3 paintings are the following

Red Alert: A lovely painting of a red squirrel perched on logs of wood. This is a painting on canvas and box frame ready for the exhibition.

Barn Dance: A cheeky donkey peering over their barn door. On vintage music and mounted in a box frame.

Make all my dreams a reality: A glorious head study of a red fox. This is framed beautifully by my local shop.

In addition, I have my two prints

Old Comrades: Two heavy horses in their harness

Invitation to the waltz: Another print of a painting of two horses nose to nose. This is a particular favourite.

If you are passing or live near enough to visit, please come along. The exhibition runs to the end of November so is an ideal time to pick up that special Christmas gift. I’m also very grateful to have found a fabulous framer local to me. Skills Art and Framing in Stony Stratford are that wonderful combination of high street shop and excellent advice and service.

I have been working on different things on my website and as always reviewing its content. I have added to my website in the last week, a set of British Wildlife paintings which are linked by being painted on music by Samuel Coleridge Taylor. He is perhaps most known as the composer of the Little Suite for Orchestra and Hiawatha . This music is his Four Characteristic Waltzes. They are pieces of music well worth a listen and I hope reflect the animals that are painted on each of them. Do let me know what you think !

I have also just added some new cards which are perfect for Christmas. At the moment, there are two to choose from and both have used photos by the wonderful Stuart James as their inspiration. The cards are printed on quality white card and can be purchased individually or as a set of 4 (which you can customise) These cards are 7” x 5” but they will also be available as 6” x 4”.

I have a number of paintings to complete before Christmas so there are some lovely subjects to look forward to. Get in touch if you have any questions or would like to commission a painting.
