How to unwrap some calm this Christmas

Winter can magical, but let’s be honest—it can also feel overwhelming. Getting prepared for Christmas; with big shopping lists, get togethers, and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to lose sight of what really makes this time of year special. That’s why I’m inviting you to step into a creative space with me, to find your quiet and unwrap some calm this Christmas.

Creative Calm

Creativity isn’t just about making something—it’s about making space for yourself. When you sit down with a blank page, a set of paints, or even just a pencil, you’re giving yourself permission to pause. In these moments, you can let the world slow and down, even if only for a little while.

Art is a form of meditation to me. It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced artist or someone who hasn’t picked up a paintbrush in years when you are creating it can be a way to silence the noise in our heads and the demands on our time.

What Does "Finding Your Quiet" Look Like?

I never really knew what a quiet mind was until I stopped doing my previous job. There was always something that needed doing and a feeling of stress and pressure with little time to get everything done.  Art has allowed me to “Find my quiet” It’s like getting lost in a good book but a beautiful relaxing one. I wanted to share this with you at one of the busiest times of year to help you to also find some quiet.

This year, I’ve created a series of small creative prompts and activities designed to fit into even the busiest of days. Think of them as little pockets of calm, waiting to be unwrapped. You don’t need fancy materials—just the willingness to give yourself this gift. The themes can take you as little as 10 minutes or an hour…. My guess is that the more you do…. The more you enjoy and the more time you settle your mind and rest your body.
